Galilee, Capernum, Tiberias and … Zafed!

Not so many pictures today.  Drove to The Sea of Galilee, caught a boat ride with nice music and perfect weather, drove around Tiberias, Went to Capernaum, did the mount of the Beatitudes (see the hilarious ‘don’t do that either’ sign I took a picture of) and finally checked out the mysterious town of Zafed.

Steve wanted to check out Zafed because he thought it was very interesting from Google Earth.  By the time we got there it was dark and everyone was in synagogue for the holiday so we couldn’t eat there.  The town is very interesting in that it sits atop this tall mountain not far from Galilee with an incredible view.  It is eerie because – 1) it seems to have no hotels, 2) it has a ton of very nice housing, 3) It doesn’t seem to support enough business to sustain the population.  I came the conclusion that this place had to be similar to where I grew up – Livermore.  A town supported by some kind of secret government project.

We then drove back to Tiberias trying to find some dinner and hit this fantastic arab restaurant that was our best meal of our trip so far.  Arabs know how to eat as good as the Jews or anybody else in Israel.

Most of the pix I got were of Capernaum, been there, seen that, but still a very nice evening to be there.
